Lordships that her Majesty's Plenipotentiary
in China, Chief Superintendent
of British Trade in China, and Governor of the Island of Hong Kong, has represented to me that Sir Henry Pottinger, on proceeding to China, was allowed an
Outfit of £2,000, being one third of the
amount of salary assigned to him;
and Mr Davis has requested
that a similar indulgence may be extended
to himself on proceeding to discharge the same duties which have been
imposed
